Publication in Water, Science and Technology:
34 communications have been pre-selected for publication in the IWA journal Water, Science and Technology.
Their authors will receive a notification per e-mail.
Specifications for the formatting of WST publications: http://www.iwaponline.com/wst/i2a.html
Reminder :To submit a paper
The selection process has been simplified. There is no more pre-selection on
abstracts. It is still possible to send a paper, without a pre-declaration of intent.
Instructions and paper template
The 8 to 10 pages final paper, written in English or in French, which must
conform to the authors'
instructions and be written using the Novatech
paper template, must be sent to the secretariat
by October 10th, 2009 at the latest. As traditionally for the Novatech conference organisation, a 3 weeks' delay is accepted, i.e. until the end of October!
Translation offer
Your paper must include on its first page a French-English
translation of the title and of the 10 lines summary. As for the previous conference, we can provide you a professional translation (both in English or French) for the title and the abstract for the amount of 20€. This offer will be available in February 2010, provided that your paper has been selected by the scientific committee.
Final paper sending:
1- Submit the electronic form for paper submission online AND
2- Send your paper, specifying your declaration of intent’ number or precising if it is a new proposal
Then, the Novatech secretariat will confirm you if your paper is well suited to the secretariat or ask you for corrections.
In the submission form, the declaration of intent has been completed with 3 important points, i.e. if you want to submitt your paper for :
-
Oral or poster presentation
- Only poster display
- Selection for WST publication
Therefore, a submission
form has to be filled for each communication.
Selection
The scientific committee, with the support of several working groups of the
IWA/IAHR Joint Committee on Urban Drainage and of several experts, will select
the communications submitted as full papers: decisions will include acceptance
and type of presentation (oral or poster).
Important criteria for final selection :
- Authors may submit more than one abstract but will be allowed to make only one oral presentation at the conference.
- For oral presentation selection, the reviewers will seriously consider:
the list of international references for scientific papers, and
the comparison to other cases or works in case studies.
- Only the papers presented at the conference (oral and posters) will be published in the proceedings.
Scientific publications
The highest-ranked papers will be also considered for publication in Water Science & Technology (IWA).
If you want to submitt youir paper for this publication, please inform us in the electronic form.
Authors will receive notification of their selection for the Novatech conference presentation in February 2010.
Official languages
Simultaneous translation, English and French, is provided during all sessions
and the technical tour (except pre-conference workshops which are mostly in
English). Papers and posters will be presented and published in French or English,
according to the authors' choice, but with abstracts provided in both languages.
Proceedings publication
For the 7th edition, the Novatech conference proceedings will be available in three formats:
1 - The setting on line of the proceedings of Novatech, on the web site of INIST
- The French Institute for Scientific and Technical Information - on its numerical
platform of edition of scientific reviews. Each communication will have an individual
referencing (DOI - DIGITAL Object Identifier).
2 - A complete publication of the proceedings in electronic version, on a USB
key, will be given to the attendees.
3 - A printing of the French/English summaries - i.e. one page per
communication - will be given to the attendees during the Novatech 2010 conference.
The Novatech 2007 proceedings are available on www.irevues.inist.fr/novatech
General issues
The main focus of the Novatech conference is sustainable solutions for management of wet-weather flows in constructed areas (i.e. urban and suburban areas). The conference covers both stormwater management and CSOs.
The 7th Novatech conference will deal with three complementary
dimensions of urban and suburban water management under wet-weather conditions:
- Integrated approaches for urban planning and operation;
- Innovative technologies;
- Integrated approaches for the protection and enhancement of receiving water
bodies.
Beyond structural answers, a greater emphasis is required on non-structural answers like the processes of urban project management, the integration of individual and collective behaviours, innovation strategies, or the establishment of adapted rules of financing.
By calling for papers, we particularly encourage town planners, architects and developers to give examples of their concepts for improved management of stormwater (i.e. design processes, achievement devices and/or their integration into the urban form).
Papers presenting commercial products/services cannot be accepted in this call for papers. However, an industry trade display and forum area will be provided.
Themes are detailed on the presentation page and in the call for papers.
Approaches and target audience
One of the special features of the
Novatech conference is the fact that it allows scientists, decision-makers and
technicians from all over the world, to learn about the most recent innovations, to meet and share experiences with leading international specialists.
Therefore, the call for papers focuses on three types of contributions:
- Scientific papers: presenting research methods or results, based on literature studies (international literature must be cited), laboratory work, modelling or field studies, with a clear linkage to practical operation or experience.
- Case study papers: addressing innovative operational applications, using scientific analysis or assessment, including papers on long term operational experience, comparison of different strategies or works, and those combining several aspects (technical, environmental, economic, sociological, public health-related, institutional, etc.); in this context, combined scientific-technical communications are encouraged.
- Prospective papers: posing new concepts that will enhance future urban stormwater management and help us to move beyond the present constraints.
