Selection

Mâcon- For scientific and technical papers -
The scientific committee, made of 15 members, with the support of several working groups of the IWA/IAHR Joint Committee on urban drainage and of technical and scientific experts, will select the final papers and divide them into oral and poster presentations. The paper selection will take into account the following criteria:

Lyon Confluence- For case studies -
The organising committee will take into account the following criteria for the case studies selection:

The selection and distribution into oral and poster presentations will also take into account the consistency of the sessions and the time available. Authors may submit more than one proposal but will be allowed to make only one oral presentation. The paper length is not a criteria for selection.

Conference proceedings: only papers presented at the conference, oral presentations and posters, are published in the online proceedings. Participants will receive a printed version of the abstract compendium at the conference.
Posters: each day during the conference, the best poster will be awarded.
Novatech Awards 2016: if you are presenting a case study, it is possible to apply to the Novatech Awards. Winners benefit from a strong communication within technical press partnerships.

* 2 POINTS OF DETAILS REGARDING YOUR CONTRIBUTION:

1. Declaration of Intent
This will give the organisers of Novatech an idea of the number of papers likely to be submitted, and thus help to anticipate the likely workload. The declaration is neither compulsory nor essential, but it would be greatly appreciated by the conference organisers. You can still submit an abstract/paper by 15th December, even if you haven’t made a declaration of intent.

2. The length of submissions (scientific and case-study)
The Novatech organisers wish to encourage submission of extended abstracts (max. of 4 pages), which are sufficient for the reviewers to understand your principal results and thus for the selection of presentations and posters for the conference programme. This approach is becoming more and more common in a range of scientific fields. Importantly, this short-format reduces the (substantial) workload on reviewers. The Novatech organisers also wish to separate the Novatech proceedings from the publication of articles in scientific journals, given that less and less journals now accept articles directly from conferences.
The Novatech proceedings have been available on an open website (irevues.inist.fr/novatech) for several years, meaning that articles in these proceedings are considered to be already published. If, after Novatech, you wish to publish an article in a journal, it must be substantially different from what you presented at Novatech, which is simpler if you only submitted a 4-page extended abstract. If you submit a full-article (8-10 pages) to Novatech, it will be difficult to subsequently publish it in a scientific journal (given that journals require submission of previously unpublished material). On this basis, we recommend submission of a 4-page abstract for Novatech. However, given that conferences in our field have traditionally required submission of full papers, Novatech will accept full paper submissions (8-10 pages), but we note that a full paper will not have any influence on the selection process.
